What is botox?

Botox, or Botulinum toxin A, is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacteria.

Wrinkle removal – advice from a specialist doctor

There are precise indications for the use of botox treatments. In accordance with this, the specialist doctor determines whether botox is the optimal procedure for mitigating wrinkles or if some of the following procedures will be applied:

  • Nano laser – Alma Q,
  • TwinLight laser,
  • Morpheus 8,
  • Mesotherapy skin boosters.

Our specialist doctors will assess during a free consultation which procedure for wrinkle removal will yield results, and whether this procedure is optimal.

How does botox work?

When botox is injected in small doses by an educated doctor into specific muscles, it prevents their excessive contraction. In this way, the formation of wrinkles is prevented where they are usually most pronounced, and existing ones are also alleviated. It is most commonly used in patients between 30 and 70 years of age.

When is facial Botox recommended?

Botox is recommended for the elimination of wrinkles in the forehead region and around the eyes, as well as for discreetly and subtly erasing signs of aging or as a prevention in stopping the formation of new wrinkles.

During the treatment, botox is applied in very small amounts to certain regions, thereby blocking the action of muscles that, by enhancing facial expressions, participate in the creation of wrinkles. The procedure at the Diva Clinic is performed by educated specialist doctors with decades of experience.

Wrinkle removal with Botox experiences – before and after

Botox relaxes the muscles in the treated area, thereby alleviating existing wrinkles and preventing the formation of new ones.

Botox is most commonly used to alleviate wrinkles in the forehead region, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes.

Since when has Botox been in use?

Since 1980, doctors have been using botox in the treatment of muscle disorders in neurology and ophthalmology, while it was approved for wrinkle removal treatments and hyperhidrosis treatment in 1987.

So besides aesthetic medicine, the botulinum neuromodulator has also been used for over 20 years for the treatment of excessive sweating – hyperhidrosis, in the armpit, palm, and sole areas.

Which wrinkles can be treated with Botox?

The persistent ones, as muscle movements on the face create wrinkles in the skin. And since botox works by preventing excessive muscle contractions, it is precisely the deep-set wrinkles that can be alleviated with botox.

Botox results

Patient experiences, when it comes to botox treatment, are excellent, making this one of the frequently used treatments because it delivers results when needed: to prevent the formation of deep wrinkles, to remove wrinkles around the eyes, to correct asymmetry of eyebrows or eyelids, to remove vertical furrows and wrinkles on the forehead, to alleviate wrinkles at the root of the nose, to remove wrinkles and furrows between the eyebrows.

Botox against sweating

The procedure is effective in treating hyperhidrosis – excessive sweating of the armpits, soles, and palms, as its effect after this procedure lasts about 9 months, depending on the state of the organism, hormonal status, genetics, and lifestyle of each individual.

Botox should be injected by an experienced specialist doctor.

For which wrinkles is botox not a good choice?

Botox cannot correct or alleviate all wrinkles on the face, so it does not remove:

  • nasolabial wrinkles – hyaluron is an excellent choice for them,
  • for wrinkles caused by skin damage from the sun (they are effectively treated with lasers and skin boosters).

When will the doctor suggest botox?

In consultations, they will first consider other procedures that can deliver results when it comes to wrinkle removal. If it is not possible to achieve this with them, on the recommendation of the doctor, botox is used in cases when patients:

  1. have a very strong mimicry, so botox serves as a prevention to prevent deepening of wrinkles,
  2. when there are already wrinkles at rest, that is, without the mimicry we make in the form of frowning, surprise or laughing.

Is botox treatment safe?

It is a relatively safe procedure, but provided that Botox is injected by an experienced specialist doctor and when a certified and proven preparation is used (but there are deviations in effects depending on the state of the organism, hormonal status, genetics, and lifestyle of each individual).

Does facial botox give a plastic expression?

It shouldn’t. Botox treatment has significantly improved in recent years. Before the treatment, patients still often ask us if their face will be “frozen”, and after the treatment, they only state that their facial expression is natural.

What is achieved after botox treatment?

There are two effects of botox treatment: It leads to skin tightening, alleviates deep wrinkles, and gives a youthful face while preserving a natural appearance. In addition, the treated muscles unlearn excessive activity, which further prevents the formation of new wrinkles.

Is botox a procedure for men as well?

Men very rarely talk about anti-aging procedures they undergo, and thus about botox. However, they invest in their appearance almost as much as women. After actors joined anti-aging trends, they were quickly followed by athletes, businessmen, and politicians.

Research shows that the number of men who entrust themselves to the hands of experts for one of the aesthetic procedures is increasing on a daily basis. One of them is botox. They often combine it with hyaluronic fillers.

This is because botox is used to remove wrinkles and prevent the formation of new ones in the upper part of the face. And hyaluronic acid alleviates them in the lower part. That’s why more and more men are opting for botox treatment.

What is important before making a decision about botox treatment – what is the advice of doctors from the Diva Clinic?

It is injected with extremely thin needles, so the procedure is comfortable, which depends on the hormonal status and genetics of each individual.

That is, it can serve as prevention.

If this procedure is started in the forties, its role is usually to remove wrinkles and delay the formation of new ones.

Botox complications – what are the possible side effects after botox treatment?

Patients often ask us if there are downsides to botox, if there can be complications, and if they should pay special attention to anything after its application?

Given that the skin’s reaction to any treatment varies from patient to patient and not everyone reacts the same, there is a possibility of reactions after this treatment.

Rare (occurring in less than 1% of patients), but possible side effects are:

  • headache or mild nausea – may occur after the first application of botox, but usually pass after 48 hours,
  • bruising at the site of botox application – subsides after 3 to 5 days,
